Every Monday and Wednesday morning the Comprehensive Life Skills students deliver coffee orders to staff, but at the end of the school year their once simple cart got an upgrade.
“The coffee cart business has been a long standing tradition at Oasis Academy. The students in the Life Skills Program shop for the supplies, make the coffee, deliver the coffee all over campus, and learn to budget using their income. With the thanks to one particular student and his family, the students now have a well crafted, beautifully refurbished coffee cart that was upcycled using an antique snow cone stand,” said teacher Amanda Yanger.
Thanks to the generosity of Life Skills student Tyler Wallace’s family, grandfather Milton and sister Kiley Wallace, the new and improved coffee cart proudly displays school spirit with Bighorn blue paint and a logo on the side. Along with looking amazing, the cart suits the needs of the students perfectly.
The Life Skills Program teaches students everyday skills including cooking, cleaning, business skills, and more. The coffee cart provides daily interaction with staff and practice for the skills learned.
“Thank you so very much to the Wallace family. The coffee cart will be used for many years to come and it wouldn't have been made possible without your support and generosity.” said Yanger.
