Sara Peixoto

Sara Peixoto is a Fallon native and has been teaching for thirteen years. She has been teaching at Oasis Academy since 2016. Mrs. Peixoto has a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education, a Master of Science in Special Education, and a TESL endorsement.

Mrs. Peixoto currently teaches first grade as well as reading to second graders.

She loves that all the teachers work together at Oasis. “This creates consistency with students and common expectations. Each year it is so fun to watch students learn and grow. I love watching the first graders progress from feeling like they're not ‘readers’ to loving to read and picking any book up and being able to read it!” says Peixoto.

This is true with one of her most memorable students. “One student that stands out started first grade knowing most letters and sounds and just a few sight words. Throughout the year this student worked super hard and left first grade reading whatever they wanted. By the end of second grade, this student had progressed into my highest reading group. Thinking about these moments always brings a smile to my face!” adds Peixoto.

Her other favorite part of Oasis is its structure. “I love that Oasis has all elementary and middle school students in one building for many reasons. First, I love that you get to see past students in the hallway! Second, I love that the older students are there to be role models for the younger students, whether this is at a school assembly or during ‘Reading Buddies’ time.” Explains Peixoto. “Last, having all students in the same building is great because after kinder/first grade, they know the staff and where things are located. This doesn't change for them and creates a level of comfort that I'm glad Oasis students have.”

In her free time Mrs. Peixoto loves books and to read. She specifically enjoys reading historical fiction and also some light-hearted realistic fiction as well. Along with reading, she loves to go camping with her family - husband Dan and daughters Bailey and Ellie. Camping holds fond memories from growing up for her and she has always wanted to make sure her own kids have those same fond memories associated with camping.
