Eric Grimes
Eric Grimes has been a full-time teacher at Oasis Academy College Prep for four years now. He teaches American Government with Economics, We the People, Constitutional History, and Political Science. He is also an Affiliate Professor with Western Nevada College and the advisor for the Car Club.
Learning never stops is something Grimes firmly believes. He has a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Juris Doctor from Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
“Seeing the students, when challenged, rise to that challenge, and succeed is my favorite part about working at Oasis. Many times, they prove to themselves ‘Yes I can,’” said Mr. Grimes.
Grimes is a proud veteran of the United States Navy having served during the first Gulf War (not in theater). After eight years in the service, he became a government contractor for another ten years at Naval Air Station Fallon.
“Most people know my hobby is baking. My children always wanted fancy birthday cakes and I didn't want to pay the rates bakers asked. My wife HATES baking so I taught myself,” said Grimes of his hobby. “Now I bake for staff birthdays, weddings, prom desserts, graduations, etc.”
Along with baking he enjoys any time he can spend with his immediate and extended family. He enjoys camping, boating, knee boarding and paddle boarding (the only board meetings he likes).
